Thank you, from a fellow proud NIMBY. There's so many things wrong with McKibben's anti-nimby-ism. For one, it's not MY backyard. It's the home of other living things that have the right to exist. 2) the climate is not a physical system; it is a living complexity that cannot function if we keep destroying it. 3) What few in the "green" energy world will admit is that is that all this building will require a "pulse" of carbon emissions, meaning to reduce carbon emissions we have to increase them first, another technological experiment the Earth doesn't need. https://www.resilience.org/stories/2023-04-05/the-heinberg-pulse/ 4) the extinction crisis is fueled by habitat destruction not CO2 emissions, yet the habitat-destroying infrastructure is sold as "saving the earth." One could go on and no.

Thanks for your courage in standing up. And to anyone trying to defend their land, if it takes a lawyer, get one.

It’s a complex subject that’s been dumbed down. Only when the complexity is discussed can real steps be made. Your essay adds to that goal. Great job!
