When Trump began announcing tariffs on imported goods, I wondered if consumers would notice the perilous nature of depending on international supply chains.

A community-based, resilient economy will depend on appropriate technology. Appropriate technology is defined as those man-made items which can either be manufactured locally, using local materials and skills, or repaired using locally sourced tools, parts, and technological skills. Modern automobiles, appliances, communication devices, computers, etc, cannot meet this definition. Older, non-computerized cars and machinery, and land-line telephones meet this definition.
To get an idea of what a community would look like that only used appropriate technology, a visit to Los Golondrinas, or similar living history museum in one's local area will give some idea. Sadly, the skill sets needed to live in a local economy, eating locally grown food, and using locally sourced technology would place most of us in a "technological era" somewhere between 1980 and 1880, and today, most of the skills people possessed in this by-gone era have also been forgotten. Who knows how to make wooden barrels? Who knows how to be a blacksmith? Who knows how to prospect for, mine, and smelt iron ore? Who knows how to grow food? Who knows how to make wagon wheels? Who knows how to chop down a tree with an axe, rather than a chainsaw?
The list of skills needed to live locally and thrive is long, and certain skills are prerequisites for food production. Who knows how to build harnesses for horse drawn implements, for example. Who knows how to make plows? So there are gaps in our traditional skills knowledge. Some skills are still available, for example, the ability to irrigate fields by acequia is still a known skill. But chiles are now roasted by propane roasters. Who knows how to roast chiles over a fire?
It has been my experience that most modern humans are not prepared for the physically intensive lifestyle that freedom from advanced technology requires. They not only do not possess the skills, they do not possess the needed psychological tools for such a life. A farm kid who has to hoe weeds in a field learns not to look at the end of the row, and just keep looking down, so as not to become disheartened by the massive amount of work that needs to be done. But who today possesses this sort of basic psychological "hack" needed for back-breaking manual labor?
The incalculable amount of global debt is not repayable. 1.5 quadrillion dollars in derivatives overhang alone is the world's most deadly unseen contagion that has the potential to destroy our global civilization overnight in a deflationary depression beyond our wildest imagination. Then we can add to that the aggregate global debt of somewhere around 1 quadrillion dollars, not to mention the US govt debt of 36 trillion, or the combined US corporate and consumer debt of 29 trillion. These are silly numbers, they are so large as to be essentially meaningless, except to demonstrate the absolute un-sustainability of our current economic system. The world is bankrupt, broke, insolvent. Period.
What is the "solution" the elites have decided on? The plan is to cancel the debt, and institute a global ration economy based on digital currency and digital ID. Everyone will receive a UBI (universal basic income) that can only be used to purchase certain quantities of certain items at certain times at designated places (ration distribution centers, aka Walmart, CostCo, etc). This level of pinpoint rationing will be made possible by the programmability of the digital currency. If you do not possess a digital ID, you will not be able to buy or sell. (If you have heard something like this before, you need to ask yourself where you heard this, and pay attention to that source of information.)
This is the economic solution. All world events, especially the actions of the Trump administration are tied to this plan. (The genocide in the Levant is an anomaly, and cannot be discussed in rational terms, because the causes of the genocide are not rational, they are racial and religious. The genocide absolutely has the potential to disrupt all other elite plans, and plunge the planet into a global war beyond comprehension; however the genocide exists on a separate timeline and reality altogether and it cannot understood outside of a Biblical context.)
Those who wish to live without digital currency, without digital ID, and with community in a sustainable way using appropriate technology need to band together yesterday, and create the interdependent networks of skillsets and productive abilities needed for basic survival. The only option to this will be to receive the (implanted) digital ID, and go to the local Walmart, where your weekly ration of Soylent Green will be automatically deducted from your "account" when you pass through the wireless 5G ID scanner as you leave the store. Oh my. Can you spell "dystopia"?
